Discipleship
Learning to follow Christ alongside people who are learning the same thing.
Making Disciples, Not Just Attenders
When Jesus called disciples, He was not filling seats in a classroom. The word behind “disciple” describes an apprentice, someone who attaches himself to a teacher and learns a way of life by walking beside him. That is what we are after here. Not information alone, but formation.
Discipleship at Florence Baptist Church means every believer, at every stage, has a place to open the Word with others and be changed by it. Whether you have followed Christ for fifty years or are still deciding what you believe, there is a class where you will be welcomed and taught.
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. Matthew 28:19–20

Adult Bible Study
Wednesday night is expositional teaching. We take a book of the Bible and work through it from beginning to end, a passage at a time, over the course of weeks and months. Nothing is skipped and nothing is rushed.
It is also a conversation rather than a lecture. Questions are welcome in the middle of the study, and so are observations you noticed in the text that the rest of us missed. If you have ever wanted to ask something and had nowhere to ask it, this is the room.
New to Faith, or New to Our Church
If you have recently trusted Christ, or you are considering membership at Florence Baptist Church, we offer a new believers and new members class. It covers what we believe, what baptism means, and what it looks like to belong to a church family.
The class is offered as needed rather than on a fixed schedule, so the simplest thing is to tell us you are interested and we will arrange it.
Teaching and Coming Alongside
The Discipleship Ministry depends on people willing to open the Word with others. If any of the following describes you, we would like to talk.
Teaching an adult class
Leading or substituting in a Sunday morning class. Preparation matters more than polish, and no one is put in front of a room without support.
Leading or hosting a small group
Opening your home, or guiding a group through a study. Hosting and teaching can be two different people.
Walking alongside a new believer
Meeting one to one with someone early in the faith. Helping build up by reading together, answering questions, and being present.
